For CCC Children

All CCC children participate in what is referred to as “The School Readiness Development Screening Program”. This program involves the following steps:
  • CCC caregivers monitor each child’s development and make a report every four to six months by answering a questionnaire. These questionnaires are called Ages and Stages Questionnaires, or ASQs.

  • If scores on the ASQs show that there may be a concern about a child’s development, CCC staff will get the parent’s permission and then do a follow-up screening at the child care site.

  • Results are given to the parent, and activities are included so that the parent can work with the child and help teach skills.

  • Children may be referred for further testing or other services if needed.

NOTE: Even children who attend child care but are NOT receiving a scholarship for care through CCC may be referred for a screening when there is a concern in development.
